There is a great deal at the NSA that we need greater visibility into, including Cozy Bear and whatever evidence they supposedly have between 2015 and 2016 on Russian activities.
One area of my research that has not been central to the Russiagate line of inquiry is the proximity of Rodney Joffe and others to data collection and analysis programs for the government. I know of certain highly classified analytic programs that our Alfa Bank researchers have worked on for our (and other) government(s).
I don’t know to what extent this FOIA hits on that, but my curiosity was piqued as I researched certain entities.
Recently, I re-submitted a FOIA for records the NSA holds related to Trustcor, Measurement Systems, Chivalric Holding Company, Frigate Bay Holdings, and Appmosferic.
Public reporting has connected TrustCor and Measurement Systems, registered in Panama, to US Intelligence and law enforcement. Chivalric and Frigate Bay are holding entities likely used to obfuscate the ownership a bit further, and are registered in Saint Kitts & Nevis.
Appmosferic is another Panamanian entity that advertisified application design services, with Chivalric and Frigate Bay connected to that entity as well. Cyber researchers have speculated this company likely acted as a means to upload malicious code to apps to collect data.
A prior FOIA I submitted came back with full exemptions claimed, but I will pursue this in the courtroom - and I think I have my arguments ready for the fight against the NSA.
Our work continues.
It’s going to be a very interesting few months.
