New Emails Hint at Guccifer Investigation
We have talked extensively about the assistance Manos Antonakakis and David Dagon appeared to provided in relation to the DNC hack, and particularly this email:
Here, Manos claims he investigated Guccifer 2.0 at the request of DARPA, which DARPA denied.
A new batch of previously withheld emails from Georgia Tech may offer some additional insights. Frustratingly, they have redacted the email content (likely improperly) so we have to offer the caveat that, we don’t know this is about the hack of the DNC or Guccifer 2.0.
In these two emails, there are a few points that stand out:
Schneck is someone we’ve discussed, who has popped up frequently in our FOIA’s. I have a lawsuit ongoing to obtain communications in his account.
Chad Hunt is someone who has also shown up very frequently in our FOIA’s and seems to have a close relationship to the researchers at Georgia Tech.
@Walkafyre caught Patrick Myers in this batch as someone who was working on the Guccifer 2.0/DNC hack investigation in this general timeframe. It was actually August 2018 that Patrick Myers submitted a subpoena for the full activity period of one of the Guccifer 2.0 email accounts. [Sort’ve odd they waited that long, isn’t it?)
There are a few other interesting names. I am going to submit some FOIA’s, push back on these redactions, and see if I can offer more detail on their relevancy.
Tons of other stuff going on. We are standing by for FOIA’s to return from DARPA, especially the one that is the subject of my first lawsuit. I would be surprised if it was not back this week.
FOIA is a nightmare. Especially for someone as impatient as me. I sincerely hope there are massive reforms implemented. For now, I am going try to get into court as much as possible, and I’m going to work towards getting discovery whenever possible.
I am going to revisit Joffe’s companies and some of our research there over the next few days while we wait.
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
