I’ve taken a few hours after the news of the raid on Trump to collect my thoughts. In the wake of reporting that this is a simple dispute over classified material with the national archives, I am stunned that Merrick Garland could sign off on a raid for something so trivial against a former President. Especially 90 days before an election.
We have crossed the Rubicon.
If Merrick Garland is willing to undertake highly politicized actions like this, there is a high risk of John Durham being fired after the midterm election.
It doesn’t matter what they are telling him right now. No doubt, they are finishing up their budget negotiations and telling Durham that he will be supported.
He won’t be. The acquittal of Michael Sussmann gives them enough political cover, that as the Danchenko trial ends and the mid term elections pass, they will be willing to take the political heat. They will fire John Durham, and appoint a cleanup person to come in and issue a strongly worded report before closing it down.
John Durham has never allowed himself to be politicized. But if he wants to finish his work, he must acknowledge the political reality and maneuver to protect himself. He needs to issue a statement on his work, or an interim report, or bring some indictments that tell the broader story.
Those of us who follow this know the truth, the DNC hack was spoofed, and everything that followed was fabricated in order to conceal that truth. It would be a real shame not to have additional accountability in the form of criminal indictments after coming so far.
To the John Durham team: you have 90 days.
I also hoped Garland would be a straight shooter but knew that wasn’t the case after he got rolled re Concerned Parents getting suspected Domestic Terrorist treatment from his DOJ. Harlan & Henny likely heading up these political hits per higher at Deep State.
