As promised, while I have a fundraising campaign open, I will provide monthly statements.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed so generously, and we have begun making some progress in our quest for documents.
So far, the campaign has raised $2195. I took a payout request with 1-2 donations coming in after the request, and it was processed for $2072.60.
There are some fees involved, charged at:
Which appears to indicate they charged roughly $70 in fees.
The funds sat in the bank account I set up exclusively for litigation:
The statement is through 9/6 - I did pay $2050 to my (our?) lawyer within the last couple days. I will show that on next month’s update.
One thing to watch for, if we are awarded attorney’s fees as a result of winning this case - that $2k+ will be refunded to me. I will not pocket that. I will redeposit it to this account against additional litigation/FOIA costs for other cases and/or, eventually donate it to a major charity group.
More coming soon.
Hi, are you still looking for funding? Do you have a Twitter I could DM?
I see that the case has now been dismissed, after both parties agreed. It sucks that DOD won't be paying attorney fees, considering they were beyond the statutory window and it required this lawsuit to get them to produce.
EDIT- oops, wrong case, my mistake
